Obsessive toothbrush washing

I think I'm to a point where I need an intervention.

I wash our toothbrushes in the dishwasher when anyone shows even the slightest hint of sickness.

They've just got to be major germ breeding grounds so I feel better washing them often.

Lately I've been throwing them in the dishwasher like twice a week.

Do I need help or is anyone else this way?

I never thought to put them in the dishwasher!  If someone is sick in our house I throw their toothbrush away and they get a new one pronto!

I do not have the electric ones so I just toss. I buy a pack of Oral-B ones at Costco.

I would be putting them in the dishwasher if I had the electric ones. Those heads are not cheap.

I typically use hydrogen peroxide or mouthwash to disinfect them. You can do that daily and it's much quicker. I typically don't do the dishwasher though I have. I usually just dump some mouthwash into the lid and let the toothbrush sit in there for a bit and then dump the mouthwash out.

Also, I don't think twice a week is obsessive, so if it works for you I say keep doing it! (But you can totally disinfect with the hydrogen peroxide and mouthwash before each toothbrushing. That is probably obsessive!)

i've never even heard of soaking in peroxide.
