cant tell if we're sick over here....

i have had a sore throat that has been coming and going for probably a month now.  same thing with R, and DH.
no fevers.
R was nauseous last night (i could see it in her face).  no fever. no throwing up. i gave her toast and she seemed ok.
her thoat hurts again today, and so does mine. i also have a headache.  she said she doesnt.  she has a cough that is only an issue at night (i havent had a cough).
R has had a little bit of a runny eye (and puffiness) plus excema around that eye for a day now.  i'm bringing her to the doc today for all of this.
C seems totally fine.

i cant tell what's going on.  i am so mixed up with the media and the flu, etc - any other year i'd say we have colds, but i'm so worried about missing something!

i'm also going in for a check this morning for my "giant papillary conjunctivitis" issue (the reason i've been in glasses since january) - i'm PRAYING it's cleared up this time bc i am so.tired.of.glasses.  send me a little thought that this crap is over with.  i am sooooo done with this (and so tempted to sue my old eye doc who let this go for 5 years and pretty much eliminated any chance i have of ever getting lasik or wearing contacts regularly again - thanksssssss for that a-hole).

eta: thanks for reading :)
does anyone have any input on all of these low-level symptoms? that was the reason i posted - i sent prematurely.  have you had this kind of thing going on?  sore throat here and tehre, headache here and there, nausea here and there, no fevers????

Kelly, it sounds like a cold or allergies to me.   I think that with all the media hype people are wondering, just like you are, "Is it the flu or not?"

I know they say that some people don't have a fever, but one of the key markers of the flu is a high fever.  Some haven't been extremely high, but they have had one.

On the other hand, you can have a fever with a cold too.

Now with every cough, fever, sore throat headache everyone has they're wondering the same thing as you are and it's understandable because that's all you hear.

Don't panic, not yet smile

she had a 99.4 over the weekend one night, but i didnt think much of it, bc i was registering a 99.2 that night also and felt pretty much fine - also i have an exergen and we allll have fevers with that thing alllllll the time.

i think i'll feel better if i just go in - does seem like a cold to me (though last night she looked TERRIBLE and slept with me) - but right, it's all we're hearing so i'm overanalyzing everything.

i'm definitely keeping her home today, and she has no school tomorrow anyway for vet's day.

It sounds like what we've had since Thanksgiving (Columbus day for you).

comes and goes, never really bad, zapps our energy, goes away, lingering productive cough, sometimes sore throat, no fevers at all.

I'm thinking its just a virus.

I feel like someone is sitting on my chest half the time. It's never bad enough to be really worried but it kind of hurts to breath. It feels like it's hard work to take a big breath.

I hope that is all it is for you. Everyone I've talked to who has really had H1N1 says you know it when you have it. Fevers, sick eyes, etc.

It's so stressful this year for a hypochondriac. lmao.

this is it to a T.  exactly. and probably since around columbus day.

that's around when R had strep (maybe the week before that).

sooo stressful to be a hypochondriac!! i'm like sitting here praying for a resurgence of OCD symptoms - much easier to handle - lmao!

Presley woke up last Wednesday with 101.8, and I thought "Oh no!"  Kenneth was leaving that morning, I had to go to work, it was a mess.  Mom stayed with her, and we just watched her.  She ran 99 something the whole rest of the week through Saturday, with a cough, but she's fine now.  I know hers was a virus, probably the same one Kenley had the week before, and probably has again.  She's a little hoarse this morning, but I think it's from her cough she has.

I've wiped everything in this house down, LOL

Sarah Grace has had a cough, I kid you not, for over 2 months.  It just hangs on and on!

It sounds like allergies to me too.

Maybe take OTC Zurtec (sp?) for a week and see if that helps.

There has also been a pretty bad cold virus going around and lasting awhile. The thing I've heard about the flu is how quickly it comes on and also the high fever. If you've had these low level symptoms for a while I definitely think it is more indicative of a cold than flu. Go online and check cold vs. flu and there are some really helpful t-charts that lay it out.

just got back from my eye doc and the kids' pedi.
rachel doesnt have strep, no flu, no fever, and her eye is fine - so we're ok - just a cold.
i (finally) asked my pedi about the h1n1 vax and seasonal flu vax and he was SO CHILL about the whole thing - like "well if they were diabetic or had asthma i'd say go for it - otherwise i think you just have to do what youre comfortable with - i dont see a huge reason why your kids would need it" - so i felt really reassured (bc i'm planning on not getting it).

my eye doc: i still have lumps under my lids, adn he said that since it's been almost a year, he has to guess tehy're never going away :(
i am back on antihistamine drops for 3 wks.
he gave me some daily contacts to try out, only 3 days a week, only 4 hours at a time.
we'll see.
he said i'm a great candidate for lasik, and that will probably be the best route bc of my eye issues, but i do have dryness that wouldnt be great for lasik.
so it all remains to be seen still.
he said i will prob never be in contacts fulltime again.
anyway there's the update - thanks guys xo.

i'm glad it's just a cold, and even more glad that your doc was so chill about the vaccine.  I really think some peds are going WAY overboard with it.

I'm sorry about your eyes.  cry

I am glad you saw the doc and it is just a cold-that is a relief!! But ITU- I am SO paranoid these days about any little thing!!!!

That SUCKS about your eyes. Boo. I hope the lasik works out for you at some point-I would absolutely hate not being able to wear contacts. (I wear mine for 16 hours a day, everyday, some days longer than that!!) Keep us posted on what you decide to do on that front. At least you are completely gorgeous and can easily pull off glasses!!!

thanks for the compliment.  and be careful with 16 hrs of contacts a day - that's how i was too since i was 13.

just make sure that you go to the eye doc IMMEDIATELY if they start sliding around or itching or falling out when you blink :) those were my symptoms.

i have to say, i havent seen myself at a distance without glasses in a year, until today.  i am so used to seeing myself in glasses, i'm actually not nuts about how i look without them - i look tired and like i need a LOT more makeup! LMAO!! i guess i'll get used to it again, but...definitely weird!
