Have your periods changed since having children?

My last few have been MISERABLE. The word hemorhage comes to mind, especially last month. And right now. Blah. Not only is af SOOOO heavy, it also comes with a mind-blowing pounding headache and general blah feeling. In addition, I was RAGING the day and a half prior to starting. Last month, I was soaking through a tampon and a maxipad in about an hour. It was CRAZY. I ruined two pair of pj pants. It looks like today is going to be similar.

I never really had super-heavy periods before. Of course for many of the last 15 years, I was on bcp. But even on the years when I wasn't, there was nothing this horrendous.

I hate it.

Yes, mine changed.  After Brittany was born, they were heavy like you were describing until I lost 30+ pounds.  Then they lightened up quite a bit.  Now, they're still quite a bit heavier than they were when I was a teenager but much better than that year or so after Brittany was born.  I can hardly wait until this whole mess just goes away completely.  If my mom is anything to judge by, I only have 10 or so years left.

i recently went back on the pill - before that, yes, my periods were heavier than before (not as much as youre describing, but more than i'd experienced before). the moods though were undeniably worse, and the pill is helping across the board thank god.

Mine has definitely changed.  I tend to blame it more on age than having had children.

My PMS symptoms are much worse.  More headaches, worse cramps, at least 1 pimple,  back ache, horrible moodiness and the first day I am purely exhausted - completely and physically drained.  I come home from work and literally want to go straight to bed.

As for the flow - mine has never been heavy.  The flow has changed in that day 1 and 2 are heaviest (but NOTHING compared to the original post!) then the next 5-6 days are on and off light to non-existant and just plain annoying!

Ugh. In the way that they used to be versus how they are now- slightly.

My mom always told me that having children would make my periods better. Granted they did slightly.
My periods pre-children were awful- think cramps so bad you want to die and can't get out bed and puking your guts up. Yeah.. And very irregular. Constantly skipping periods.

She freaking lied. And somehow she never thought to take me to a gynecologist. Huh.

Still irregular.

Mine have changed fo sho. Worse and worse...and post-tubal, it's almost scary heavy and kind of unpredictable. I also have wicked ovulation pain or something that I never had before. Blech. You have my sympathies.

Mine is definately heavier and more painful and the PMS is really bad.  I hope it gets easier as the years go on.

Mine are worse, but more because of the mood swings, headaches, fatigue.

I would go to the gyno and tell them. Sometimes there are other reasons if you just start to have really heavy cycles. Do you get a yearly check-up?
