sooooo apparently, "they" are saying the disney misled all of us ignorant moms with their baby einstein videos and that we're all entitled to a $15.99 refund per dvd that we own.
if you're interested, here's the scoop. here's the direct link to the disney refund page.
(is it wrong that i'm thinking about returning all of mine since we're done with them and using that money to buy new disney products? )

That's crazy! Any parent who actually thought duckies and puppets bouncing across the screen to mozart would make their kid a genius is crazy.
Who cares how they marketed it.
Anyone who has ever been a mom knows exactly what they're for. So that you have a 22 minute babysitter so that you can take a shower every day. LOL.
Worth its weight in gold if you ask me.
I bet Julie Clark is soooooooooooooooo happy she sold to Disney right now.
Kristi....will your sister's company be affected or does she antcipate that she might be? (I was reading the nyt article and they said this:
“The Walt Disney Company’s entire Baby Einstein marketing regime is based on express and implied claims that their videos are educational and beneficial for early childhood development,” a letter from the lawyers said, calling those claims “false because research shows that television viewing is potentially harmful for very young children.”

She's definitely fearful that she'll be targeted along with other video companies.

I hope not.
That would be such a shame. Her DVDs actually ARE educational.
So, does that mean leapfrog videos, etc have to do the same?
I think it is a total scam. If parents are really that dumb then they deserve it. I mean sure tv is not great, but kids can learn from it. It is all common sense and that is sure lacking in the world these days.

My thought is that is has absolutely nothing to do with anything but some lawyers trying to make a buck.
I think in these hard economic times the sharks are really coming out.
My husband has been dealing with it with his company.
There are real trolls out there, not just on momsquawk. LOL
I think they'll go after whoever they can in the industry.
It's all about settling out of court and making fast money.
