hey girls!

i had my appt with the pain mgmt dr today.  long story short, he wants to try facet joint injections

i don't know anyone who has had this procedure done so i'm hoping someone here might have or know someone who has?  i'm pretty good with needles, but the thought of a needle next to my spine makes me pretty nervous.

matt is recommending i get a second opinion and i think i'm going to look into that.

tia for any input.  :)

April I will ask my DH when he gets home - he knows a lot about this stuff.  I tend to agree with Matt though; get a 2nd opinion.

april...I asked don (who is an occupational therapist) and he said he wasn't familiar with the term.

fwiw, i had corisone (sp?) injections in my back during a really bad back pain episode and it worked WONDERS!  but i know there are some risks as well.

I would get a second opinion before getting steroid injections?

Are they doing this to diagnose or treat?

thanks girls!

according to the dr i saw, there is no way to TREAT what is wrong with my back - they can only try to reduce the amount of pain i have by treating the symptoms.

i'm going to try to schedule an appt with a back dr asap and get input from him about the injections.

thanks again.
