In light of Heidi Klum and Seals new baby girl, Lou Sulola Samuel, I was wondering your opinions on the matter. (I think Seal's last name is Samuel, btw)
I think I've talked about before how it's one of my big pet peeves, with the exception of some boy names that are gender switching like Jordan, Avery, etc. but I don't think names like Henry, Michael, or Ryan are going to be doing the switch to being a mainly girl name, lol.
It only bugs me because I feel like it takes options away from naming boys. I loved the name Peyton, but apparantly it is more thought as a girls name now? I even occasionally got the "it's a girls name" for Tristen.
I totally can envision Ryan becoming a girls name.
For me, it really depends on the name. I do NOT like Lou for a girl, but I do like Alex and Sam. I have heard Logan used as a girl name, and it really annoys me, lol. Natalie has a girlfriend named Dylan - and I guess it is okay, mainly because it seems to work with her personality.

I seriously thought about Ryan for Kate . . .
DH nixed it b/c he has an old buddy he's not so fond of now whose name is Ryan.
Plus, Ryan would not have fit in with our J & K theme

speaking from my own experience, i think it is MUCH easier for a girl to get away with having a boy name than vice versa. i knew a boy named kelly and it was much harder for him than it was for me.
kind of like how a girl can be a tom boy, but a boy can't really act girly without being called names.
that being said, i do not like the name lou for a girl at all.
i think it depends on the name. i have a gender neutral name, but hardly know ANY kellys who are boys, and i think it's a pretty femme name. i dont think it ever really crossed over to boys all that smoothly.
i wanted to use the name casey for cara, but mike has a guy-friend named casey. i still feel like casey is a femme name.
in general, i dont love boys names for girls, but really it depends.
You know it doesn't really bother me. These kinds of things tend to change naturally over the. Purse of history anyway.
Funny story though which some of you may have seen on my fb status. Joe got a party invite the second day of school for someone called jameson. Me: you have a boy in your class called jameson, joe? Joe: no Me: well you are invited to a jameson's party Joe: there is a girl in my class
Anyway so we turn up to the party with a LPS girl girl gift, only to findout that jameson is a boy like I thought. I have never been so embarassed in my life. To be fare to joe though the boy had shoulder length hair and is very cute looking and of course joe is only 4.
I always think of jameson as a girls name now.

lmao that that is what we are using should we ever have another boy. i definitely do not think jameson is a girls name. i mean, it literally means james' son.

For some reason, I thought you were done with two. Does this mean you will be having another at some point??? I hope so!
My SIL was just telling me about this family that she knows. They have 3 kids---two girls and a boy.
Their girls' names are Jameson and Dylan. Their son is named Morgan.
Huh?!
The dad has a very feminine name, but I am blanking on it right now. So interesting!
(Laura---it's funny that you mentioned Riley---I feel like that is such a girly name now. It's kind of like Taylor and Bailey. They were names for boys first, right? Now they seem so girly to me. (shoot---I am thinking really hard right now to make sure I am not offending anyone on the board whose boys are named Taylor or Bailey! haha)
I didn't vote, but basically I agree with what others said---if too many girls are named boy names, then the name becomes girly, and that leaves less boy names to choose from.
(Another funny story---I know this family that has three girls and a boy. The girls' names are Andi, Parker, and Ryan. She then had her son last, and she said at delivery, when they said, "It's a boy!," she was like, "Wow! We don't have a boy name picked out!" I thought that was so funny!!)

I know a girl named Ryan
There are two girls in the Mother's Day Out program where I work named Ryan. One is 2, and one is 3--both spelled "Ryan".
