Ages ago, I bought a game called Scruples. I culled through the questions the other night to use it with the 6th grade girls I have in a Bible study. We had fun discussing the questions and answers there so now we can do it here. ;D
I may even find some that questions that would warrant their own thread.
Here goes:
1. You don't have enough money to finish college and don't want to quit. Your uncle, who made his fortune gouging low income tenants, offers to fund you. Do you take his money?
2. In a parking lot, you accidentally dent someone's car. Do you leave a note taking responsibility?
3. A friend who needs a job applies at your business. Someone who is better qualified also applies. Do you hire your friend?
1. yes probably he already has the money mise well use it well
2. How bigs the dent. LOL. Most stores have cameras in parking lots now so Id be afraid to not leave a note
3. it depends on the type of buisness and the friend. If theyll be distracting and not do the job the other person. If the work would still get done I think the way employees get along is important for morale so maybe the friend.
1. You don't have enough money to finish college and don't want to quit. Your uncle, who made his fortune gouging low income tenants, offers to fund you. Do you take his money? First I would look into alternate methods of paying, like working off some, or whatnot and try to get the amount reduced. Then, yes. I think I would have a better ability to help people like he had taken advantage of after I had an education. If I were able in the future, I would start a charity or foundation to help such people.
2. In a parking lot, you accidentally dent someone's car. Do you leave a note taking responsibility? Depends. When we lived downtown, people bumped each other's cars parking all.the.time. but it didn't leave damage. You get used to it. But if there was damage done, I would own up.
3. A friend who needs a job applies at your business. Someone who is better qualified also applies. Do you hire your friend? No. I would instead try to help her find a job for which she is better qualified.
1. You don't have enough money to finish college and don't want to quit. Your uncle, who made his fortune gouging low income tenants, offers to fund you. Do you take his money? Yes, but I'd pay it back.
2. In a parking lot, you accidentally dent someone's car. Do you leave a note taking responsibility? Probably not if it was just a scratch. If it was big, I would. After all, I have tons of scratches and small dents on my cars that came from others who left no note.
3. A friend who needs a job applies at your business. Someone who is better qualified also applies. Do you hire your friend? It depends on how big the difference. If there's a big difference in how qualified they are or if my friend isn't reliable, I'd hire the other person. If there's not much difference, I'd probably hire the friend. At any rate, I'd give both a chance to present their case, just like I would with anyone. It would be a disservice to my friend to do otherwise.
1. Yes, I'd take the money. At that moment all that would matter is me finishing school. I can't fix what he did wrong and my not taking the money wouldn't make what he did wrong. Then I'd report him just to make it better.
2. It would depend. If there was no damage I wouldn't leave a note. If I did then that other person might not be as honest as I was and would claim damage where there was none. Or would use damage from a separate incident as damage from my door ding so it would be a waste of my time and money and honesty to report a ding w/ no dent. IF there was damage of some kind that is above a small scratch or dent- I would leave a note.
3. No, I wouldn't hire her. If some one more qualified and skilled is better suited for the job I'd hire that person and probably help point my friend in the right direction. Besides- I don't work with friends. PERIOD. BTDT and its not easy.
