Jon had an "epiphany" and wants the show to end
Permalink

All of a sudden, Jon has decided the show is no good for the kids and wants the plug pulled.

Apparently he has also suspended divorce proceedings so that he and Kate can become friends?

http://omg.yahoo.com/news/jon-gosselin-i-have-to-be-a-man/28892?nc

I know-we should just drop the whole thing and stop talking about them.  But I can't seem to do it!

Thoughts about the latest developments?

i dunno. While timing does seem odd since the show was dropping his name from it, I want to HOPE that he really has his familys best interest at heart. And for that reason I dont want to say what his motives are.

i'll say what his motives are! $$$$. or in his case, being pizzed that he wasn't going to be pulling in all that moola once his named was dropped from the show. coincidence it happened right after tlc made their announcement? i think not. what a tool.

YIPPEE!!!

i can only hope that he is serious about this and the kids are never filmed again.

at the moment, imo, those kids have no chance - on TV all the time and their parents going through a very nasty divorce seen through not just the paparazzi, but the mainstream media which IMO is just.as.bad.

i pray that those kids get off TV forever and they have a chance to heal.

both jon AND kate are such famewhores.

money is SO NOT WORTH IT!

Ditto this.

Man, did he just steal the wind right out of Kate's sails. What can she do? I'm guessing she'll try to campaign for the show, saying she has to do it to feed her children... but she's going to alienate a lot of fans that way, who don't have TV shows to feed theirs...

For the sake of the kids, I hope the bad PR for TLC causes it all to shut down.

Totally agree, Megan and Michele.

I love me reality shows, but I do not do ones with little kids. I just think it is sick and wrong. If adults want to be the freak shows then I am all for it,lol. The little kids should be off limits.

I hope it all comes to and end

Michelle, I find it interesting that TLC said he is still in an exclusive contract with them. I have heard rumblings of him wanting to do a show about divorced dads, so I wonder if he is just trying to get out of this so he can go do that.

I would love to believe he has the best interests of the kids in mind here, but based on past history and behavior, that is had to believe.

The show needs to go.

I have to say though, when I watch 18 Kids and Counting, I find it enjoyable. They really are a sweet family.

What is 18 kids and counting?

I think this couple started off cute too,  no? I never watched. I  have only ever seen one episode of it and could not stand Kate.

It is about the Duggar family. We watch it here as well and I think it is a good show.

I think it's pretty obvious that it comes from a place of sour grapes. He doesn't give two cares about those kids anymore, but without them, who will buy his Ed Hardy shirts? But, I think he'll win his side, and the show will be over. Which I'm fine with, because the show isn't even entertaining anymore. The constant mentioning of the paparazzi, the constant trips, Jon popping in to eat a hotdog or something.

Kate shouldn't worry, though, because I've heard she's doing a panel type show with Paula Deen, kind of like The View or something. And I'm sure Divorced Dads Club with be such a train wreck with Jon and Michael Lohan both being raging douchbags, that people will watch.

I do think there is some value to other shows that are heavily occupied with kids - I still watch a few, but all of the parents (at this point) are much more grounded, and there seems to be more care into what they show so that they kids don't seem so violated.

I find it interesting that he ONLY wants the show to shut down AFTER he is cut from the show and the name is to be changed from Jon and Kate Plus 8 to Kate Plus 8. A month or so back he thought the show was fine and didn't mind it. That's while he was IN the show. But now that he's cut out, psht. It ain't no good, right?
Puh-lease.

And then he goes on to apologize for his new-found bachelor behavior. Oh, its utterly ridiculous and he's so sorry for it. He's about as sorry as they come but in a whole different way.

And to halt divorce proceedings so they can figure out their marriage and become friends? Sounds like someone has had a "change of heart" and realizes that they can't do it without Kate--the woman who was allegedly verbally abusive to him for 10 years. Puh-lease. I can't tell you how many times I've snapped at DH for something. Does that make me verbally abusive too?

Ugh. The only one who seems to be staying out of the light is Kate. And while I think they are both EQUALLY at fault for the destruction of their marriage and the subsequent fall out that will rain down on their heads and the heads of their children, whom I feel bad for b/c they are left wondering WTF happened to their idyllic life, Kate has managed to stay out of the harsh media life more so than Mr. I Can't Figure Out How To Keep My Tallywhacker In My Pants.
They are both just ticking me off. I stopped watching the show after they announced their split. And I stopped watching it long before then because I just didn't think that a family should air their lives 24/7 to the world. What happened to privacy? What happened to the sanctity of family?
I don't care how good the money is- I wouldn't want the world to watch me at my worst- which is most often every hour of every day depending on the day. They shouldn't want that either. They just paint themselves as shallow, money-hungry warthogs with no driven purpose in life but to fatten their damn wallets at the expense of their family and children.

Trash.

Wow...Where did that come from?

jennie -i dont think kate is staying out of the spotlight - i am fairly certain she does a LOT more interviews than jon, she just says she does it to sell her books.  the view, the today show, larry king.... she has been crying her fake tears in interviews fairly consistently, and a long time before jon started... his are just more obvious cause he is such a douche.

but in reality they are both equally as bad... really, really sad.

Yup.  TOTALLY different feel to it than J&K.  I know that the Duggars drive some people nuts, but when you watch their show, they are really such a sweet family.  They really put each other first and it doesn't feel AT.ALL. like it is exploitation like J&K does.  Just a completely different show-not about drama at all, kwim?  I actually have a newfound respect for them since watching because before I just thought they were insane for having so many kids.  But they really have their act together there. (I guess you would have to with so many kids)

I meant spotlight in terms of all those, "The Gosselin Nanny Admits Affair With Jon" type spotlight. The ugly, scandalous type.
