here it is. this is just one coat.  it looks all textured bc of the stippling.  that look will go away with coat #2.  cant wait to get the tape off.  just feel it's all sooooo -- blah.  but i know if it had any umph, i'd be like "i wish it was more neutral" lmao.

I really think the second coat will make a huge difference!  that is the same color in your kitchen, right?  I really like it in there.  Have you already painted the wainscoting and molding?  maybe go with a whiter paint to make the top paint "pop" ?

thx.
well we had to keep the wainscoting the same color as the cabinets because -- this pic shows it better -- there are cabinets along the wainscoting line (the low cabinets facing the table) - these are just primed so far, and will have knobs soon.
i think it will be OK- but just not my dream scenario. i'm SO TIRED of choosing paint!! (oh and here you can see the light fixture too, and love the dead bulb - lmao - pardon the mess, i'm grading papers...)

another thing is maybe do something like white pottery on the buffet (I am assuming that is what it is) or shelves with white pottery or hang a few white plates on the wall.

yes its the same color as the kitchen, but it's translating browner out in the dining area.  i dont get why.  maybe the second coat will make the diff, who knows.  at this point, i am just tired of painting every night.

thanks. i think i'll feel better about it once i have some curtains and once the wall hangings are back up (or replaced).  it is hard to update such a dated house for sure.  i keep reminding myself "approach it with love....approach it with love" - lmao!

i am embarrassed to show pics of the my house...such awful colors. (but the saddest part is that I picked them out :bag)  the only room(s) that has a paint color I like are the new bathroom, living room and the guest room & bathroom.  The rest are horrid.

oh yeah that is totally nice, i like that a lot.  i LOVE the moulding around your doorway too - drooling over here.

i dont know that i'd consider what i have a buffet really  - it's sort of a  cupboard?  there are three shelves inside, i store canned foods in there and random kitchen appliances like the wok, rice cooker, etc. i'd like to clear it out so i can have a place for all of R's school stuff...one of these days.

i try to keep the top of it clear - i have two candlestick holders on there and that pewter vase, and usually i have a tin mirror behind it (when not in the process of painting).  i love the idea of plates on the walls though.

oh ok...it is nice!  I also like the chandelier...I like the "vintage" look.  we have a HUGE light above the table, but is hung too high...it needs to be lowerd w/ a chain.

re the molding...I was just thinking today if/when I paint the kitchen and dining room, if I should paint the molding white or off-white....or if b/c there is ALOT of it, leave it alone?

ug see this is totally what started screwing me up with the kitchen.  i am all for white moulding, but sometimes when there is so much trim, it gets to be a little bit too much.  SO hard to figure it out.  in your case i think i'd like it white...
we got all mixed up with the windows, cabinets, door, and wainscoting -- SO much "stuff" and i had no idea what should be white, offwhite, same as walls, etc.  i am  still not sure!!!

i'm pretty OK with most of our colors (i've been painting all year!!) - everything is EXTREMELY neutral now though, and i'm a little concerned about that.  but i guess it's fine - it is what it is, and i am not really into major color these days i guess.

i LOVE the color of our TV room right now - we went from wood panelling to "alexandria beige" which is a nice dark olive - i LOVE IT.  cant even begin to tell you how much i love it.

my bedroom right now is "hampton green" and i dont love it - cant wait for edgecomb in there -- and i'm going to paint cara's bedroom lavendar in about 6 mos :) (right now it's pale yellow).

this year i have painted the upstairs hall, downstairs hall and stairwell, den, and kitchen/diningroom. SO TIRED!!!  would love to tackle the LR but it's a huge project an di'm not up to it!!

I think neutral is a good thing!!  (after living with bright orange and yellow for the past 5 years..lol).   I also like the subdued effect.

You have been busy! I can't remember if you posted your tv room?  I'd love to see the color.

I found this color tonight and fell in love (it is bm baby turtle)  I really like the black frames.

i love baby turtle, i have a little can of it in the garage.  it's a really great color. that is exactly the color i keep.on.choosing.

love those black frames also - maybe i should just totally overload these walls with pictures  - haa!!!  i'll try and get a pic of the TV room hang on...(it's teeny tiny, nothing special, but sooo cozy).

this is the tv room - major opportunity in there for "photo walls" which i have every intention of doing, but not quite yet.  we need a new couch DESPERATELY but are waiting till the girls are older, since as you can see, they've pretty much taken over the room.  we are getting a flatscreen soon and there will be a small dose of redecorating when that comes, but nothing major till they're bigger.

that is a really nice color!  I like the picture above the couch too.  what kind of art are you thinking for your photo wall?

i got that pic above the couch for $30 at homegoods, just "for now" - then saw it for $169 in ballard designs, same print, same size, same canvas wrap, etc.  SCORE.
i think for photo wall i'd do an assortment of family pics and areas of my town that have meaning to me (we've been here for a few generations now!) - the corner deli, my grandma's basement door - the garage of my uncle's old house which is really run down and SO awesome looking, a statue in my yard, etc -- i have taken a lot of the pics already and they have come out really nice - i've done them mainly in sepia or b&w -- we'll see how far i go with the idea.
