i may very very tentatively be coming into town to visit friends on the weekend of the marathon.

1. what is the name of the hotel y'all stayed at and is that close to the "action"
2. are there any ladies available to get together that friday night?  if i come, looks like i'll be in the area around 8pm

We stayed at the Sheraton near Michigan ave. It was nice and was walking distance to everything.

There are tons of hotels in the area and I've stayed in plenty of them for work. What are your dates? I'll take a look and give some recommendations. I love chicago!

If you find a good rate on a hotel, book it now. You can cancel but with the marathon, I'm sure it will be hard to find something closer to the event.

Hotels I loved and that are in the touristy area:
sheraton
Parker house (or Palmer - I can't remember which one is in chi and which is in Boston)
Marriott courtyard downtown Chicago
Renaissance Chicago
Marriott Michigan ave

I'm sure there were more.

We stayed at the Sheraton, which was nice, but I feel like it is actually a little removed.

And what kind of "action" are you looking for? Anything in River North or Mag Mile areas will be great and around everything. I personally like to stay in hotels that are on Michigan Ave (we have stayed at the Intercontintal, which is nice and near the south end of the shopping scene, and also the Four Seasons, which was great and at the north end of things).

It's all within walking distance of fun stuff, or quick cab rides in the rain (so long as the cab doesn't break).

What kinds of things are you specifically looking to do? Are you looking to be close to the marathon start location?

palmer house smile - i don't like the location of this one as much as the others, but it is nice
embassy suites that is by the sheraton is nice
the courtyard, i used to stay there all the time, nice but a little farther away than the others from michigan ave
swissotel is nice and great location
