Best Leapster Games
Permalink

In the Christmas thread, I mentioned Ethan doesn't play on his leapster. Literally that day, he suddenly became very interested in it.

He has a Nemo game and a Cars game so far.

I'd love some game recommendations so we can add it to his Christmas list.

Also, where do they have the best deals? I think I remember people talking about getting games cheap at some point but that was before we had one or it was even on my radar.

Thanks!

Pet Pals is seriously a must-have. Hannah still plays it all the time, as we got it over 18 months ago.

Hannah has a butt-ton of games, but most of them are girl related (Dora, Disney Princess)

Lauren loves Pet Pals too.  We also have Backyardigans and Dora but Pet Pals definately rules in this house.

Diego gets played most in this house.

We also have Thomas, Cars, Spongebob, Numbers on the Run, Dora Pinata Party.

Pet Pals is Hannah's favorite game! I think it's pretty gender neutral too from what I can tell. I know around Christmas I got some pretty good deals on Leap Frog's website.

Braydon always really liked Thomas. I thought it was good too from a learning stand point and fun too.

Lucas loves Cars and likes Pet Pals okay but his fave game (and the one that taught him how to read a little bit and know his letter sounds) is Word Factory. I don't know if it is in stores or not still but we got it on ebay. He also loves the Disney Princess one and a Dora one lol

I find games for $5.99 in T.J. Maxx from time to time. I also buy most of them from eBay.

ditto on diego.

emily's not so good at using the "arrow pad" yet, so she mostly plays the games with the pen.  diego mini-games are perfect for her - penguins which is for counting and the bridge game which is for shapes.  both games are sort of below her ability, but she loves them and will play them forever.

i'm going to look for word factory - thanks kari!

can anyone recommend specific games that use the pen more than the arrow pad?  i'd like to get her something else until her arrow pad skills improve to allow her to play independently.

Thanks everyone! Pet Pals will be a definite.

have any of you seen these? Based on the characters, I think Ethan will love them but I wonder if they are too advanced. It says kindergarten/age 5 and by Christmas they'll be only 6-7 months away!

There is a writing one... I don't know what it is called.. Mr.Pencil or something like that. We haven't tried it but I'm thinking about getting it. I saw great reviews on it. I'm guessing that it would use the pen mainly. I'll have to look through Lucas' games that he has and see which ones use the pen the most because I know some of Lucas do. I know Cars is mostly arrow pad.

We don't have either of those but I know we do have some that are for him to "grow into" that are for age 5 and up and Lucas seems to do just fine. I think we have a Spiderman one and even though he can't do everything yet he's fine with it and I think he'll grow into them.

Actually I think most of the ones I've saved for Christmas are for 5 and up, which is why I didn't give them to him for his bday and are saving them for christmas. I can't
