so i told breanne i would do whatever diet she wanted for her post-baby weight loss.
originally, we were going to do WW, but she is convinced she has diabetes (she doesn't, but her neurotic tendencies have already been well documented here).
she decided on south beach, so we are doing that, just started our second week.
i have to say- i really like it! i actually feel so much better since i started! i have more energy and oddly, its like the way i feel when i'm on my zoloft. and thats been virtually from the start. i don't wake up so tired in the morning and although some days work still wipes me out, i don't feel dead on my feet everyday after work.
the "cons" (for me) are that it requires a lot more planning and prep. i actually have to cook and fix meals (vs WW where i can buy convenience foods). SB does have convenience foods, but i've tried them in the past and hated them. also, i think this diet is probably more expensive than WW. of course, i wonder how it balances out with not spending money eating out, etc.
yesterday i was feeling kind of sick after mom and i ate a bit too much olives & pepperoncini at lunch, so i had a few bites of c's cream cheese bagel- dyk it did not taste the same to me. along those lines, i had a bite of her mac& chz this morning and same thing- it didn't taste the same. actually, i didn't like it. which is new to me for sure!
i also have not been hungry, which is nice. i was not usually hungry on WW either except in the beginning. i still think WW is a solid program, but i have to say SB might be my favorite ever diet.
i'm looking forward to having fruit again, though!
i have always been interested in a "lower-glycemic" diet- i think if everyone followed a diabetic diet they would lose weight. so i'm happy to see that finally trying that is working out. as a bonus, c is eating better because i'm cooking more often.
anyway, just thought i'd write this up as my "review" for the diet. i'd encourage anyone to try it out.

so true. I have always said a diabetic diet is the way to go. For me the only issue is all the prep and time. I felt like was always cooking, prepping. My parents lost a ton of this diet. The key though is if you can keep it up after the time frame. IT is a very good way to lose weight thought. I hope you do great on it.
That's great Tab! What a great bonus to actually feel good when on a diet instead of just miserable and hungry...or maybe that is just me when dieting. ;)
