DH told me last week that the plant he works at is terminating their contract with the company he works for. The contract is handled through a third party and the plant does not wish to do business with this third party. The corporate offices for the plant do not wish to be a part of any contract negotiations between the plant and the company DH works for. This is now between the plant and the company.
If there is no tentative contract made by next Monday, that's it. DH, his employees, and every one else that works for the company or is subcontracted through the company packs up and leaves.
The suit in charge of this specific location for the company is down today along with the VP of the company. Meeting starts in 30 minutes and DH says its not looking good.
Well, the plant decided that they didn't the company any more so Oct. 31st is his last day at the plant and then what, I don't know.
The suit gave DH two jobs he thought he'd be good for. Both of them are way below his skill levels which pisses me off. He's a freaking manager and the suit gave him entry level laborer positions.
But the company picked up another contract with a company called QuebeCorp/World Color so DH is going to try to move on over to there.

I'm sorry....:fingerscrossed that he can get workd at the new company. Keep up posted.

Ugh.
I hope he can get work over there. You guys are in my thoughts!
Yes, we'll have to move. In 6 weeks! I hate it because I'm so happy here in our little house. It might not be perfect but I love it. We sit on half an acre. We have so much room to run. I'm making friends with our neighbors. I'm making friends in our new church and now we have to leave.
His last thought would be to go back to his old job but we're looking at a loss of $4/hr. We can't survive on that. He'd be back on the road and coming and going at all hours. We'd never see him. It would suck. And he doesn't want to do it.
He applied for a series of jobs- one in Durham, NC which is about 3 hrs from here and my stepmom would be an hour from us. Another in Gallop, NM. A few in Kentucky around the Lexington area. The other one was in Freemont, California but he isn't applying for that. He also looked at jobs with other companies in Alabama to be closer to my grandparents. I'm trying to get him to apply for a job within the same company for Wilmington, DE to be closer to my family. We'd be a couple hours from Philadelphia where most of my family is and about 30 miles from where my other grandparents live so it'd be cool.
He's asking for a relocation package. The plant wants all of his first shift crew. All the full-timers would be converted to temps and lose money as well. They don't want him even though rumor was that if they didn't renew the contract with the company they were taking DH and his entire first shift crew as AM(the plant he works at) employees. He's going to try and save his job now but still applying for other jobs within the same company just in case..
I am praying for you,Jennie. What a stressful situation. Iam hoping it works out and you don't have to move, but if you do,I hope it will be to a location that is closerto family.
