My mom asked today what we were thinking about for the kids. We do christmas with them at thanksgiving.

Honestly I have no clue. I have a lot of books and dvds stashed away for christmas but as for actual toys activities I really got no idea. Maybe some color wonder for raymond and a small soccer ball, but we have tons of toys as it is.
what are you guys thinking of.

I've been working on refurbing an old IMac for Hannah (it was a freebie, so I'm not crazy, lmao, long story), and her Santa gift this year is this and a dvd player. No flames, thanks. The rest will be small stuff - surely mostly barbies, lps, ponyvilles, and stuff like that. A few books for her Tag, and I'm going to pick up a case (they are in the clearance section in our Kmart) and decorate it all pretty.

I am trying to pick up things here and there, but she's much sneakier than she used to be, so I have to be very careful!!!

Finally, the thread I have been waiting for. I need ideas. I feel like she does not need anything.

So far:
Tag
Tag books
Cranium game- Hallaaloo
New Video
Strawberry Shortcake Strawberry house
LPS stuff
New books
Something Art related - looking for something good

Stocking is always:
chapstick, flavored
fun band aids

Treat
Little figure of some sort

leah-

if your kmart has any of the books on clearance, they are ringing up at $4.80 (even the ones marked $6**) and there is a $4 coupon good towards any tag book on the leapster website (or atleast there was last week when i was on there).

Thanks for the heads up! I'm going out there Friday, so I'll take a look. I've been trying to check weekly since  I have some of those coupons just itching to be used.

We had I Spy and Kung Fu Panda last week on a clearance end cap last week, but I didn't have my coupons with me (of course).

I'm not particularly interested in either, but if they ring up for $6, you can't beat $2 oop cost! Of course, there's no way they are going to mark down the ones I really want (like Tinkerbell) lmao.

I have no idea what Marcos is getting for christmas...
is getting difficult to think what should i get for the boys.
for example Diego just want a rope to get out of the shower... no

Manuel wants an itouch but his birthday is on Friday so my mom and me got him that.  so no clue as what to get for christmas.

so probably is going to be like this:

Manuel: mini (and I mean mini) laptop
Diego: mini laptop
Marcos: no idea - probably a bike.

Keep in mind that we also celebrate the three king's day on Jan 6 and they get gifts there.  So I just give one big one and a couple of small ones on January.

Koda has become very vocal on what santa is bringing him (he has not stopped talking about Santa since last Christmas.  I'm not kidding.  We are already watching Polar Express here.  Hell, we never stopped.  Just the other day he was asking for Rudolph and Frosty).  Since every toy he sees he thinks Santa is bringing, I've stopped stocking up on most but little things and will have him write one last letter to Santa in December and will go from there.  I did score a Thomas bridge for 75% off a while back, so for sure he is getting that.

Tristen is getting a couple barely used Word World DVDS that I am buying from another staff person tomorrow.  I also picked up a couple of little einstein and diego toys from target.  He isn't fussy honestly.

I have several preschool board games I've picked up on clearance that they will share (lucky duck, etc).

I am purposefully tuning out all the crazy deals this year.  I am trying very hard to be reasonable with purchases.  Trying :)  We continue to keep an eye out at the thrift stores and yard sales for bob the builder stuff.  They both are obsessed and they aren't as common in the stores anymore.  It is all Handy Manny now, and apparently, NOT the same.

I swear, I have got to keep it under control. So far this is my list:
Gavin:
Buzz Lightyear
Toy Story pajamas (open on christmas eve)
Board Game
DVD (Monsters v. aliens)
walkie talkie (to share)
Book

Owen:
Woody
Toy Story pj's (open on christmas eve)
Board Game
DVD
walkie talkie (to share)
Book

Stocking will be (most likely) a transformer of some sort, snacks, little things but not a lot of toys.

I am asking my mom to get non-thing items like soccer lessons, tap lessons, that kind of thing.

I did see a really cool toy story board thing that you can play in and they have a bunch of the little figures so that would be cool and my mom would keep it at her house.
That is it!

good thread, as I have no idea what to get him.

He's very into superheros and suddenly transformers.

I'll probably get him a couple of DVDs. We watched the Goonies last week and he is obsessed. I want him to see ET so I might buy it. And of course books.

I like the walkie talkies idea. He's love to do that with the neighbor.

What is this "tag" thing you all speak of?

It is the Leapfrog Tag reading system

http://www.leapfrog.com/tag/

It has books that you can use

oh cool. Fortunately, Ethan definitely doesn't need that. He barely uses the leapster he got for his birthday.

One less thing to feel obligated to buy.

I am not trying to get you to buy it, lol, but I wanted to tell you that my girls don't use their leapsters much at all either, but they ADORE their Tags.  Totally different ball game than the leapster.  The leapster is a gaming thing (and we are not gamers in this family-they get frustrated with the leapsters), the Tag is a book thing-and my girls LOVE books, and they love that the books are so interactive.  We love our Tag readers!!

I am going to set a strict budget this year and not go over it. I just havent determined the budget yet...

Anyway, they want EVERYTHING, lmao. IHNI what I will get them. For Anna, I have so far a Baby Alive I got from Tuesday Morning for $20 (it is the $50 one that talks and poops-I have a feeling those "food" packets will be getting lost, lmao). I was thinking about getting Kate one of those interactive Pandas-they are like $50? IHNI what they are called or if they are even age appropriate, but she loves pandas, so I was going to look into them.

Kate's birthday is coming up, so I have been thinking mostly about that. She is getting this Thomas thing that is under my bed (that she actually pulled out months ago-I am hoping she has forgotten about it, but I know Anna hasn't), and the PBK Raleigh Horse Barn that I bought when it was on clearance.

I know they want Strawberry Shortcake toys, and Kate was drooling over Barbie's the last time we were at Target, so maybe we'll put those on their lists. We have SOOOOO much already though. IDK what to get them, and so far, they don't have anything they REALLY want like they did last year with the big giant duck and the big panda.

Something we have, "The Grinch" I think, has a preview of ET. Mark is scared of the preview and makes me fast-forward through it.

It's odd because he loves other "scary" stuff on TV. :shrug

Mark is also into  superheros and transformers.

I am going to try to finish the homemade bean-bag toss game that I started making for my kids for last Christmas. Oops.

Since Mark loves superheroes and Cars and Transformers and Toy Story, he's pretty easy to please. Unfortunately, it makes me want to buy him everything in the whole store. Mark just started figuring out letters and letter sounds so I'll probably ask someone to buy him the Alphabet Apple or some other abc-button-pushing toy thingy. I saw a Buzz Lightyear spaceship that I know he'd love. Or a big Spiderman house (or whatever the cool thing to call a Spiderman house is). Or a Spiderman bike. Really, Mark likes everything that's a toy.

Henry has a new obsession with our zoo (and all zoos). Maybe I'll try to find him a book about different zoos. He is really the hardest kid when it comes to thinking of gifts. He never liked superheroes and stuff like Mark.

At a local church's booksale last weekend, I found a book about homemade toys and games. There were a few cute ideas in there--bowling sets out of 2-liter bottles, stuff like that. Maybe I'll do something like that. The kids might even enjoy making stuff for each other.

I bought a bunch of stuff at Targets 75% clearance this summer and then stashed it at my parents so I don't even remember what I bought.

Braydon has announced that he will be asking Santa for a DS.  Ugh!  He already has a Leapster that got upgraded to a Didge, which he plays often, so I don't really know that he needs another system, but that is what all of his friends have and I have a hard time saying no to Santa presents, so if anyone sees a good deal, let me know.

I feel like they need nothing so I'd love to do a trip instead, but I know that won't fly.
