some random questions
Permalink

hey guys.
i havent been on as much as usual, but here are some questions i've been mulling over:

1) does anyone know where i can get a green tee shirt or long sleeved shirt (plain) for a 2 yr old (need it for her costume).

2) do you have cushions on your kitchen chairs, and if so, are they washable, or do you just buy cheap ones and replace them here and there.  where are they from?

3) does anyone know how much it costs to recane chairs (i've asked this before).

4) are you going to see where the wild things are? do you think it looks a little boring?

5) if you compost, tell me, do you get rats, and are worms involved.  i'd love to start composting but i'm afraid of "creatures" of any kind, and i am not that keen on attracting wildlife.

6) what do you think of wainscoting painted lighter than the walls? edit: i'm talking in a diningroom.

1) Does it need to be girly in fit or just green? I would honestly check Walmart, Target or Kohls.

2) Ours were covered in fabric (WHITE!) and that did NOT work. We recovered them ourselves with a vinyl so that we could easily clean them. Not the prettiest but much prettier than nice material covered in dirty handprints and markers.

3) ihni

4) I don't know. I don't think I've even seen the movie trailer. We'll probably rent it.

5) iI don't compost and I wouldn't if it brought rats. Yuck.

6) I think lighter wainscotting looks AMAZING! I totally love it - and I think it's great in dining rooms. I want to do white wainscotting in my bedroom and a blue color on top. I think it would look great.

Not sure what color green you are looking for exactly but here are two links I found.

This is a boy crewneck

Here is a girl shirt

We do not have cushions on our chairs.

3) does anyone know how much it costs to recane chairs (i've asked this before).

Not a clue but I just googled and here is one link.

4) are you going to see where the wild things are? do you think it looks a little boring?

Did not even know it was coming out.  I am doubting we will my kids are not real good at sitting still for long periods of time.

5) if you compost, tell me, do you get rats, and are worms involved.  i'd love to start composting but i'm afraid of "creatures" of any kind, and i am not that keen on attracting wildlife.

Do not compost. I do not think it is something done around here because I have no clue about it.

6) what do you think of wainscoting painted lighter than the walls? edit: i'm talking in a diningroom.

What two colors are you thinking?  I have seen your style and I always love everything so I am sure it would look fine.

I don't have any answers for you except that you could try Michael's for a plain shirt - they have lots of them.  biggrin

I have no answers either other than no I do not have cushions on my kitchen chairs.  My kiddos are soooo freaking messy that I would have to replace them 3 times a day :sigh

First thought would be WalMart, then Hobby Lobby or Michael's

My dining chairs do have cushions but they were made that way so I just use a damp cloth with some cleaner on it and let them air dry

3) does anyone know how much it costs to recane chairs (i've asked this before).

I have heard of doing this but ihni where one would even look to find out.

4) are you going to see where the wild things are? do you think it looks a little boring?

I saw the preview when I went and saw "Public Enemy" (Johnny Depp is unbelieveably beautiful in this movie) and I would go see it myself but I doubt any of my kids would want to.

5) if you compost, tell me, do you get rats, and are worms involved.  i'd love to start composting but i'm afraid of "creatures" of any kind, and i am not that keen on attracting wildlife.

Look into worm composting. There was a presentation a couple years ago at the elementary school about it....Looks super easy and other than the worms that you put in yourself, it doesnt attract critters (mice, roaches, etc....I asked) and looks like something that would be great to get younger kids involved in.

I LOVE that look. WHenever Don works on a house that has wainscoting, I always ask to go see it when the house is completely done

2) do you have cushions on your kitchen chairs, and if so, are they washable, or do you just buy cheap ones and replace them here and there.  where are they from?  We have fabric cushions that came on the chairs and I put some stain resistent spray on them and then if they get a stain, I use a damp cloth.  I have also used the cushions you buy (I got them at Kmart - 4 in a bunch).  You could also try Big lots and Family dollar (they are really cheap).  The quality is fine really.

3) does anyone know how much it costs to recane chairs (i've asked this before).  I have no idea...but I have seen some diy videos on the web about it.  or you could replace it with fabric :dunno

4) are you going to se  e where the wild things are? do you think it looks a little boring? Probably now...haven't seen the trailer.

5) if you compost, tell me, do you get rats, and are worms involved.  i'd love to start composting but i'm afraid of "creatures" of any kind, and i am not that keen on attracting wildlife.  no idea

6) what do you think of wainscoting painted lighter than the walls? edit: i'm talking in a diningroom.   love love it (I have darker wainscoting on the wall with my stairs and I really don't love it as much as the ligher color - the white in my bathroom).

thanks so much for your responses.
the wainscoting....shoot you guys we are having SUCH a hard time making decisions about this kitchen.
i cant tell you how many paint samples we've been through.  seriously. i paint EVERY SINGLE NIGHT and then repaint every single night.
i'm f-ing losing it.
there's wainscoting, a lot of window trim, and a door all in a VERY small space, and i cant shake the fact that they should all be the same color (our goal in this room is to visually SIMPLIFY, even though there's an assload of crap going on).

so then i'm like, ok it should just be white. i like this look. i prefer white wains in a bathroom with a darker top, but i think it's ok in a DR too.

but then, two walls of where wains SHOULD be in this DR is cabinets. so they're stained.  (and dont get me started on how WRONG the stain color is - it's ORANGE, like pumpkin orange, and DH will kill me if i complain).

then i'm like, ok, i'll paint EVERYTHING. cabinets, etc.
but white cabs look like crap in here (too small of a space, it looks like a junky dollhouse).  so then i'm like, ok i'll paint them DARK, but....then i'm back to dark wains, with contrasting white trim, and back to TOO MUCH VISUALLY.
:shoothead doesnt even describe it.

i'm totally checking out michaels for green shirts, GOOD CALL.  thanks. i wouldnt have thought of that but ITK what you guys are talkign about.

glad no one else knows much about composting too, makes me feel less guilty - LOL. i think sonya composts? sonya?!
thanks guys!! smoochy.
