Costume sizing help please!!!

Ok, so after much discussion, my girls have settled on wanting to be characters from Miss Spider's Sunny Patch Friends.  Kate wants to be Shimmer.

My issue is the sizing.  Here are the sizes:

Size Height Waist
Toddler
(2-4) 35"-39" 22"-24"
Small
(4-6) 44"-48" 25"-26"

Kate is currently about 38" (or she was last time she was measured), but IHNI about her waist.  She is 33 lbs.

I am afraid the toddler will be too small, but that the small will be too big!!  These are on eBay, and she doesn't take returns.

What should I do???

Thanks Kelly. That is what I have been thinking, but it is just so hard to know. If she has a growth spurt in the next two months, we could be in trouble, but then I know an XXS from Disney fits her fine, so I think it also depends on how the costumes run.

The only real concern would be if the body weren't long enough, but while Anna is long waisted, Kate doesn't seem to be, so that shouldn't be a problem.

Thank you!!

I am the opposite and would probably go with the small. could you try to measure her real quick?

owen is around her size though he is 39 1/4 inches but is 33 lbs and if i was ordering for him i would get the small.

I measured her when she got up, but only her waist.  It is 20".

Tomorrow I will measure her height too and see where we stand.  I guess bigger is better than smaller, that is for sure, and the price is the same either way...it is so hard when they are right on the cusp of sizes!!

Thanks Sara!!

I think I am just amazed at the difference in the height recommendation of the two sizes.

Heck Bryce is just now nearing 48 inches at almost 7 which means he could technically fit in that 4-6 and then Owen at 39 1/4 would be in that size as well. I have a hard time believing that.

Could the lady give you any idea on how the costume runs size wise?  Does she have someone maybe around Kate's size that could try on each one and send you a picture?

I'd definitely go with the bigger size. You could pin it if it is too big but if it's too small you're out of luck. That is some weird sizing!

My guess is that the smaller size would be too short and the bigger size will be a bit baggy. But I'd much rather have that and try to fix it then high waters.

I contacted her about it, and she was less than helpful.  She said she really couldn't judge the size of the costumes, and gave me the manufacturer's sizing info that I c/p here (and ITA-what is with the difference on height???).  I even contacted her again, saying I was struggling to decide, and she didn't have anything constructive to add.

Unfortunately, I haven't seen them anywhere else, and she seems to have the eBay market cornered on these.

I measured Kate again, and she is still measuring at 38".  Based on that plus her waist, the toddler one should fit, but the woman also has on all of these listings something about costumes generally running small.

UGH!!!

I am afraid that the Small is going to drown her, but that if I get the Toddler, it will be too snug!!!!

I guess that is true-we could always try and take it in.  I don't even mind if the legs are a little short or something-but since it is a one piece thing, I worry that the bodice part wouldn't be long enough-that is really my main concern.

IDGI-why have one size stop at 39" and the next size up start at 44"???  What about the kids who are 40-43"??? (which includes Anna-but I figure the bigger is always the better choice for her.)

that is crazy she is so rude.

i am wondering if you can look at her feedback and maybe tab through a few recent ones of hers and if they are people that bought the costume maybe message them and see what size their child is.

Laura I am late on this but I would totally go with the bigger size.  When Lauren was 2 I ordered her a toddler 2-4 thinking it would be too big and it was so small on her and she was so uncomfortable.   Most of the costumes I find run small.  I'm ordering up a size for Anna this year.

 Thanks Michele!

I was having such a hard time, that I ordered Anna's, and I figured that I would see how that one fits Kate, since it is the bigger of the two sizes.  I was hoping to combine shipping with this woman on eBay, but in the end figured it was better to pay a bit more on shipping than to have a costume that is too small and that I can't return!

That is surprising that the costume was so small on Anna!!!

UGH.  Well,I ordered Anna's from the woman on eBay (she is like the only person who has them).  My intention was to see if it fit Kate.  Why yes, it does-and it BARELY fits Anna.  Thing is, it SAYS size 5-7, but in very small print underneath says for kids ages 3-4.  Well, had I known that,I would have ordered up!

Anyway, before I had gotten Anna's, I saw the one Kate wanted on ecrater for like $12-sooooooo much less money-but only in the toddler size,so I had ordered that too.  OMG-if either of them grows, we are shopping for new costumes.

I left the eBay woman neutral feedback because she was not helpful.  She didn't leave me any feedback, even though I paid immediately.  Biatch.  I shall not be doing business with her again.

Oh well-they will be snug as bugs on Halloween, lmao!!

What are your girls going to be???
