How many have read the true blood books? How is it compared to Twilight?

Do you like these books? I was thinking of picking them up and reading them.

Twilight is YA and True Blood (actually they're called the Southern Vampire Mysteries, the first is Dead After Dark) is an adult series. There's some sex in them.

Anyway, each book is a mystery and there are love stories too but it's quite different from Twilight.

The vamps are different, like what they eat, how they become vampires ect. They're also in society with people. People know about them and they have certain legal rights, that's a really interesting aspect.

Anyway I really like these books. The series on HBO is great but it's defintely VERY sexual. The books refer to a lot of sex but the show actually shows it.

I say go for it.

I never read Twilight.

Several of the women in my dept at work are hooked on the True Blood series.  Our boss is on book no. 9 I think.  I sat here listening to them talk on and on about vampires, etc. and I thought they were crazy.

They convinced me to try it so they passed me book no. 1 a couple of weeks ago.    I finished it last weekend and have now started book no. 2.  Kristi is right - alot of sex and I've heard the HBO series is VERY explicit.

After I got myself to stop thinking the plot to death (i.e., vampires are not real, they do not sleep in the ground during the day, etc.) I've been okay.  I just rarely read books without plausible plots so getting past that took me awhile!

My co-workers have said the HBO series runs with the books - season 1 is = to book one, etc.

i have read the first true blood book, and am now watching the first season on HBO.  it is pretty similar so far.  i liked the book, and the series is good.  i do not like it as much as twilight, but i will say it is more of a mystery.  you should try it out.  it took me a while to accept that it wasn't like twilight and get past that, but then i started to enjoy it.

Totally different. Love them both for different reasons.

Like Kristi said, Twilight is YA, that's a big difference. The Sookie Stackhouse books are adult, and there is sex and more "violence". and like she also said, the concepts and stuff are completely different.

That being said, I love them both.

I would pick up the Sookie books. I like them a lot, they are a good, quick read. I blew through them all. True Blood is based off of the books, which is something I had to really pound into my head because they are lots of noticeable differences (not good or bad, just different) but yes Book 1 goes along the plot of Season 1.. book 2 season 2 etc.

I LOL when I read the title. I have seen Twilight and all the True Blood shows. True Blood for me is the anti-Twilight. I haven't read the books so this is just my opinion based on movies and series.

I haven't read True Blood, but I have read The House of Night series. It too is for teens, but I liked it! The vampires in this series known as a part of society too.
