I think that I mentioned that at my consultation appointment last month that my OB has taken back over my case (from a fertility specialist) and that we were discussing the possibility of taking a new medication.
I've been waiting for a long time to hear from him, but he JUST called and told me that the day after I left the office, he got a medical journal that was all about this new medication usage for fertility patients (The same one I had come in to talk to him about at that appointment, that he had to research before he gave me the okay. Fate/Devine Intervention brought the research to him 24 hours later.) The medication itself is not new - it's for breast cancer patients, but the large (uber-common) side effective is ovulation production. The great thing is that it is thought to be twice as effective at stimulating the ovaries, but 1/2 as likely to produce multiples. (7-10% for Clomid, 2-4% for Femara). So, we can breathe a sigh of relief (not that I would be upset with twins... but the financial drain would be more than we could bare right now)
Anyways, I'm VERY excited. I need to sit down with our calendar and Joe's, as I'm going to be inducing my cycle to get a jump start on this, and I need to make sure he's in town, lmao.
But, I'm really hopeful for this - I have a gf that was ttc for 5 years - ivf, iui, the whole niner, and switched to Femara and was pregnant her first cycle.
Also, because of it's actual intended purpose, there is a chance that my insurance may cover it, and I'm hoping that is the case, or we'll be holding off on starting the cycle for a while, because it's insanely expensive if not. But I'll cross that bridge when I get to it, if I need to.
Cross some turkeys!
Thanks for listening to me write novels constantly.

That's terrific news!! I wish you the best, how exciting!
My insurance did not cover Clomid, so I called around to each pharmacy in town to price compare....I found one that sold it for quite a bit less than the other pharmacies. Just something to keep in mind if you end up paying for it on your own.
Thanks, girls!!! I am super excited, and I feel like I have a renewed since of hope, so that even if it doesn't happen right away, I can run out that for a while again.
Lea, uncovered I've heard it's in the $400 range, but I'm not exactly sure.
