Have to get daycare for 1 hour a day...

So because of my schedule with school, I'm going to have to get daycare for daniel for 1 HOUR a day...I have no idea if any place does it by the hour.

I go back to school Monday (same as the kids). the first 4 weeks, I can pick up Daniel at his release time because Mondays I get out at 1150 and no class on Fridays. Tue, Wed, Thu though I won't get out til between 3-315. I could get to his school by 330 BUT they say I can't have him just stay ther and wait for me in the office (the office staff doesnt leave til about 4). Daniels school day is 745am-240pm

The next 12 weeks, when I'm doing my first round of clinicals m-th I will get out between 3515-330.

Having to get daycare for him really puts a monkey wrench in everything. Him starting school was what was supposed to make it easier for me to go to school. If the older kids got out the same time he did, I would just have one of the boys get him from school, but high school doesnt get out til 345.

idk what i'm going to do, child care is not an expense I can afford right now and we can't afford to have don shutting down his day early to pick him up either (he would lose up to 4 hours of work time per day). AND I dont know any of the other moms of the kids in his class so its not like I can just ask if they can pick him when they get their own for an hour, ya know.

Lately it seems like if it isnt one thing it's another.

chele, is his Pre-K in a regular elementary school?

if so, do they offer before/after school care?

emily's school offers it and due to ease, we will be using it this year.

for us, it's $120 per month for either before OR after school care and $220 per month for both. VERY reasonable.

just a thought.

pre-k here is public school. they after school care through the ymca, waiting on a call back...also waiting on call back from 2 other places that pick up from his school.

one i did just speak with is $50 a week for after school care which doesnt sound bad except that it just seems crazy to pay $50 for approximately 5 hours of care (maybe that's a good price, idk, i've been fortunate to be able to stay home with them so I've never used day care before). I don't expect that it will be any cheaper than that anywhere else.

I was just looking at our elementary school for next year.  They offer on site after school care, through the YMCA.  For a full week, its $50, but you can get it for one day a week, etc. Hopefully that will be the answer for you.

Braydon's school offers before and after care for $5 an hour.  Maybe there is something like that at your school?

Or perhaps there is a classmate who's Mom would take him for that short period of time?
