I don't really remember my first day of school. I remember every year standing next to the closet in the entrance way and having my picture taken.

I remember my orange Peanuts lunch box.

Good  morning.

I don't remember my first day.  I swear I fried too many brain cells in my 20's, lmao.gif

Funny story about it though.  EVERY time I see my first bus driver, he tells the story of how I was so short that I couldn't reach the first step to climb up on the school bus.   EVERY TIME!  I just saw him the other day at a chicken place, and I hadn't seen him in YEARS, and he told the ladies there that story, lol

I don't but I do remember my first day of high school. It was terrible. We had just moved the summer right before and I didn't know a single person. Plus I moved from southern california which was a huge city to a small town that couldn't have been more different.

It took a loooong time to feel comfortable going to school but that first day was torture!

I don't really remember my first day of school while actually being in school.  I do remember that I wore kind of a brown plaid dress.  I had to sit at the end of our yard to wait for the school bus and the bus was a little one, which all the kindergarten kids rode.

I hated school as a little kid so I am sure I have blocked most of those memories.

Have i mentioned that one of our big reasons for moving into the city was to get charlie into a good school that we wouldn't have pay for?

it turns out that the school he will attend (there are two possible) are the two best public schools in the city. And we can take him to the daycare and they walk them up in the morning and take them to the afterschool program after.

I am really so excited (although nervous) about this.

I don't remember my first day of kindergarten.

The only thing I remember about the first day of 1st grade is that the bus driver wouldn't let me get on the bus at the end of the day. I'm sure I've told this story before, but I'll tell it again.

It was blazing hot outside (as usual on the first day of school in Memphis), so instead of waiting in a long line to get on my bus, I went and sat down in the shade until the line was much shorter. When I went to get in the line, the bus driver told me that I couldn't get on the bus since I hadn't stood in the line. My brother was on the bus and was arguing with the driver that I was his sister, and I had to get on there. They left without me.

Another bus driver took me home, which was traumatizing because I was 6 and had NO IDEA where I lived. It was even more traumatizing for my parents who were waiting at the bus stop and only got one of their kids back home from school.

My mother was livid, and I know the school and the bus driver got an earful from her. That bus never left without me again.

That sounds so great.  I know we are going to have to pay to send E to a private school.  The schools here are not so hot.  I bet Charlie loves it and so will Jo when it's her turn.

So will you have to store things or is your apartment big enough for it all?  Are you going to look for a house to buy in that area or is that just not available?  Did you take pictures? popcorn.gif

We had our 4th grade parents' meeting yesterday with Henry's teacher. I just love her.

I may make a separate post about that under the heading with his age.

She's just so sweet and loving. She even said she doesn't like to give much homework because she thinks children should spend time with their families when they're not at school (since they grow up so fast). She's a grandmother. Did I mention that I love her?

That bus driver was a jerk!  That was terrible to do to a little 6 year old!  It amazes me sometimes the people that are hired to work with kids when they lack any common sense brain cells.evileye

this is such good news.

i think you'll be soooooo happy once it's over and you don't have that awful commute anymore.

i also think you'll be three times as happy when your house is sold.

I would to.  Obviously we should consider moving next door to you so that Elizabeth and Mark can go to school together and get all these great teachers Heny had.  Now to just figure out how to get dh and his partner and the other people there to want to move. giggle.gif  I seriously would not mind living there again.

Glen took today off, so I'm going shopping with my mom and WITHOUT the little grump-monster who hates shopping.

Yay!!

Glen was whining and moaning last night about how broke we are. [He does that on a regular basis.] But then he told me that he took the day off today to play golf with his dad. And he's playing golf on Sunday morning. Doesn't sound like he's so broke to me.

We're all going shopping today too, and of course to eat Mexican food.

Presley's choice btw

I totally remember my first day of K.  My Mom wheeled my brother and me to the bus stop in our red wagon.  I didn't want to get on the bus, so my Mom followed the bus to school and peeked into my classroom.  That made it all better.

Then there was my first day of first grade.  I had pink eye so I couldn't go until half way through the second day.  My Mom walked me in as the class was getting back from lunch and the teacher was screaming at the class.  Not a great start.  My Mom said she had a hard time leaving me there.
