Hey girlie!

I saw in another thread that you just got the shark steam mop.

I really want to get a steam mop for my birthday (vacuum last year, mop this year.  WTF is wrong with me? LOL).

We have granite tile floors in the kitchen and marble floors in the entryway. I can't use regular cleaning products on them so they are a b**ch to clean (for a lazy person, that is).  I really wish we would have thought of this being dazzled by the floors. evileye

We also have hardwoods and I've heard you can use steam mops on them  too.  On some reviews I've read for other mops, though, it says it still leaves the floor wet afterwards.  Do you think the shark does this?  I don't want to wreck our hardwoods but really need to find an easier way to keep all these floors clean.

Also, can you link to the one you have so I know the exact model you are referring to?

TIA!!  *smooches*

Here is the one I have.  I got it when I had a 30% off at Kohls, so it was around $85ish dollars, if I remember correctly?

Anyway, it does leave the floors damp, but it dries pretty fast.  I have been using a swiffer, and this leaves the floors drier than that!  I think any of these kinds of things will leave the floors a bit damp at first (like a film, not like soaking, kwim?), but we have laminate, so I am not too concerned.  We have never had a problem with it!

As far as I know, they are safe on hardwood.  Like I said, we have laminate, so not exactly the same thing, but it hasn't been a problem for us.

I think it would be great on granite and marble!!!

It does plug in (obviously, since it has to produce heat to make steam), but the cord is supa long, and it reaches everywhere I need it to.

I wouldn't buy the cheaper one.  I heard the capacity on the cheaper one stinks, and this one has the interchangable heads as well.

Leah has a H2O mop, which is basically the same thing, so you might want to get her input too!

just jumping in to say that in MOST cases, manufacturers recommend that you do NOT steam clean hardwood floors.

i would check with your manufacturers before you take any chances. i would not use a steam mop on my hardwoods.

Thank you for all of your input!

I've heard that the Bissell and the H2O mop leaves the floor very wet.  I think the
H2O mop is the one that has the removable piece that makes it a handheld for the shower doors, microwaves, etc.  I love that idea but I also want to make sure the mop does the job I need it to.

So far, the one Supa posted is in the lead.  I also have a 30% off coupon for Kohls for this or next week I think so that works out great!

I've heard this too.  This house is old though(60s if I remember correctly) so there's no way I could contact a mfr. to find out.

If I did use it on the hardwoods, I would do it rarely.  Usually they just need a good swiftering or mopping, and sometimes I will use the hardwood cleaner with a microfiber mop, but I'd also like to try the steam cleaning.

I have wanted one for sooo long (ever since Leah posted about the H20, I have wanted a steam mop).  This one looks great!

One question....does it actually suction anything up or it just steam that get the dirt and the dirt is on the pad?

LEAH!!!

If you see this (if not, I'll post another M2M), did you have the H2O mop or the H2O Ultra?

Here's the link to the Ultra.  I know this one has the handheld option and I love that.  I'm having a hard time looking elsewhere.  I feel like I'd go crazy cleaning everything, especially our glass shower doors that get nutty dirty every week.

http://www.thane.com/products/housewares/h2omopultra/faqs.php

Only problem is that I think I have to order it online and can't use a coupon anywhere.  That makes it pretty expensive (especially if I get the optional accessory caddy that makes it even more handy LOL).  But it is my birthday present and I am, once again, asking for a household cleaning product for it.  I think I get to splurge a bit. biggrin

No suction-it is like using a swiffer wet jet in that way-it basically just cleans the dirt on the floor, but if you don't do a preliminary sweep, you'll just push the bits of other stuff around, kwim?

I posted in your fb thread, but I don't have the Ultra.

I have noticed lately that my h20 mop does leave the floor wet(ish) afterwards for a little longer than it use to originally, but I'm not sure if that's because I do more hovering in certain spots. Either way, it is not as wet as it is with mopping, and for me, I need more power (even on a day to day basis) than something like a swiffer wetjet can provide. I love it to the moon and back, for sure.
