wood floor, ceramic tile floors and flat top stoves(don't know if that is what they are called)?   For the stove my aunt said she used Soft Scrub.  She said something about the stuff made specifically for it didn't work as good.

i use murphy's oil diluted with water for the tile and hardwoods, and sometimes polycare on the hardwoods.
i agree with the softscrub for the flat stoves - my mom swears by it too.

hardwood is mostly water and vinegar or murphys diluted in water. really you should not put any chemicals on the wood and they say vinegar is the best to use.

ceramic - depends where it is. On a kitchen ceramic floor I would just use a normal floor cleaner or choice. I use a bleach based cleaner on my ceramic in bathroom.

The cleaner for the flat top is stupid. Basically soft scrub does the same or even baking soda works.

I don't have a flat top stove, but my mom does. I forget what she uses.  barkeepers friend, maybe?  Or maybe she also uses soft scrub.  I forget.

Anyway, I just recently got the new shark steam mop (is has a rectangular head and a triangular head as well and a larger capacity than their old one) and I use that on the floors.  I really like it, though I do wonder if it actually sanitizes.  But I am trying to reduce the amount of chemicals I use in the house these days.

Professional tile and grout cleaner plea....Please, please, please don't use bleach to clean your tile and grout.  It's very acidic and over time will eat away your grout.  It leaves little holes making it even easier for dirt and grime to get in there.  When we clean our solution is highly alkaline.

Anywho..I have a specialized spray on cleaner for my hardwoods.  For my stove top, I use a cleaner just for that, but will def. have to try the softscrub!

I usually use a stop top cleaner, but if the soft scrub works just as well, then i think I'll try that this weekend...surely it's cheaper than the cleaner?

So, what kind of mixture of vinegar and water do you all use?

What do you use then? I use it only in my bathroom and it is old tile. I think my grout is sealed though.

Soft scrub it is then. My ceramic is in the kitchen so I'm still not sure on that one. My uncle has a flooring store and he installed it(he owns this place) so maybe he sells a cleaner there. I guess I could try vinegar. Does any swiffer anymore? I have a swiffer that I used years ago and was thinking about getting pads for it. Would that be bad for wood?

cheap and it cleans just as well.

Actually you can use your swifter on both your ceramic and your wood.  I have gone back to my swifter for the tile because it just is easier for quick clean ups and such.  They make a wood swifter formula that you can also use, but I thought it left things a little streaky.

As for the steam mop, I am not sure about using that on wood.

Sealed or not (and a residential sealer usually doesn't last more than a year or two) bleach is just bad.  Between our cleanings we recommend a pH neutral cleaner.  pH is usually always listed on the bottle.

We use an alkaline cleaner that is probably only available at a local distributor.  If you have a local store that sells to cleaners, ProChem's T&G cleaner with a grout brush does the best job you could do at home.  Spray it on, let it set for 10-15 minutes, scrub, and wipe it up with water.  A gallon isn't cheap, but you dilute it so much that in the long run it could last a very long time.
